“老百姓自己讲述自己的故事”的网站开始运行

"Our Stories in Our Own Voices: Chinese Immigrants Multimedia Storytelling in the San Gabriel Valley" has finished its first phase. It is sponsored by American Chinese Culture Association (ACCA) and the California Council for the Humanities (CCH). Right now we are planning the second phase of the project. One of the new initiatives is the building of this website.

The purpose of this website is to use our stories as an invitation to individuals or groups or communities to join an on-going conversation at this "digital porch" of ours. In Chinese, an idiom captures our aim here very well, which goes like "throwing out a brick to attract jade". Well, probably you are arching your eye brows: "What?" Well, we are keenly aware that so many valuable things get lost in translation. The good news is, the English version of the website is under construction.

So，please register and log on to our "digital porch" now and then. You can drop by, listen to stories, and tell some stories of your own. We believe a compelling story can transcend cultural barriers of any kind. And it is in storytelling, we learn who we are, where we have been, and what we are becoming.

由美中文化协会和加州人文委员会联合举办的“华人多媒体讲故事展”的活动已经完成了第一阶段的工作。目前，我们正在计划第二阶段的工作。其中的第一项任务就是将我们的具有互动性的网站建立起来。

我们建这样的网站是希望用我们的故事抛砖引玉，鼓励更多的个人和团体能将他们的故事上传与我们分享。我们相信讲故事能留住人生体验，能引发对话和理解，能营造心灵的社区。我们目前还在建设我们的英文网站。请一定注册登陆，常来这个数码茶馆停驻片刻，听听，聊聊，把你的故事上传与世人共享！
